Job Developer for Individuals with Autism
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director, Vocational Supports, the Job Developer for Individuals with Autism, is responsible assisting the Director with the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the Vocational Supports Program. Program Administrator, Vocational Supports is responsible for supporting the needs of the Vocational Department through job development and assuring compliance with licensing and state regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor degree in a human services discipline (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, etc.
Experience: Minimum of three (2) years experience in the area of vocational services with an emphasis on supported employment and job development.
Skills: Strong programmatic skills in the area of supported employment and job development required. Must possess excellent planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to devise creative solutions to program issues. Strong oral and written communication and collaborative skills needed, with the ability to marshal and coordinate internal (e.g. staff, other programs, etc.) and external resources (e.g. employers, community groups and leaders, etc.), to meet program objectives. Strong organizational skills required, as well as an attention to detail to effectively support applicable department. Must be a self-starter, with the ability to handle multiple projects within prescribed deadlines. Must be able to work independently or as a member of the administrative team. Computer literacy required with a proficiency in standard business software applications (e.g. word processing, e-mail and spreadsheet).
NATURE AND SCOPE
Program Management:
Follows-up on job development activities, either including the initial contact or following up on the initial contact as directed by the Director.
Assists the Director in the development, establishment and maintenance of competitive job sites.
Assists the Director in ensuring that BMPs are implemented and that individuals receive necessary supports to fully realize their vocational potential.
Acts as the liaison between Vocational Supports and the residential program. Assure that Coordinators are provided with all relevant information by the Employment Managers.
Assists the Employment Managers in effectively advocating for their individuals to be successfully matched with competitive employment opportunities.
Assists the Employment Managers in supporting individuals who have the interest and ability to engage in self-employment (e.g. grass cutting, selling art work, selling Christmas cards).
Tracks documentation of individuals schedules and daily work and training tasks for accountability that all individuals have a structured, meaningful program.
Assists the Director with the administrative aspects of Vocational Supports department (i.e. reports, compilation of data and other administrative duties involved in supported employment) to ensure its smooth operation. Assists with compliance and reporting, budget development and monitoring, and IP and BMP development.
Maintain program attendance and accurate summary data of transportation, staff assignments and individual schedules.
Completes direct care staff payroll and individual budgets for department.
Ensures vocational training center has a neat professional appearance.
Staff Management and Development:
Provides leadership, mentoring and motivations to staff to ensure the creation of the optimum environment to support individuals in achieving their vocational goals.
Participates, when requested, in the recruitment process of new job coaches and develop job coaches to provide appropriate supports for the individuals to utilize the environment and achieve employment goals.
Conducts orientation and follow-up training of newly hired staff acting as the point of contact until staff are assigned to Supported Employment Managers.
Tracks the use of relief staff, floaters, and overtime.
Ensures that proper staff coverage for Job Coaches on leave is maintained in compliance with CSAAC policies and procedures.
Ensures staff members complete required training within timeframes prescribed by CSAAC and monitors departmental trainings of director support staff by preparing memoranda to staff regarding training and recertification needs.
Assists in planning and conducting quarterly staff development sessions
REQUIRED TRAINING/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies Training (BPST).
Successfully complete annual recertification of the BPST.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Employee must be able to effectively use non-adverse physical intervention strategies with individuals with autism of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
