Assistant Medical Coordinator PT 30h/week
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Residential Health Care Support Coordinator the Residential Health Care Support Assistant is responsible for assisting the Coordinator with managing the medical appointments and associated paper work for the individuals served by CSAAC.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. College level course work in a health services discipline (e.g., Nursing, Medical Records, Medical Technology, etc.) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience providing administrative support in a medical and/or health care environment. Exposure to individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Skills: Must possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise patience, caring and concern in new and sometimes stressful situations. Good organizational skills and attention to detail needed to maintain information files on individuals served. Computer literacy required, with a basic competency in standard business software applications (i.e., word processing, Outlook Calendar, e-mail and spreadsheets).
NATURE AND SCOPE
· Prepares and disseminates a monthly calendar of medical, dental and lab appointments; prepares and disseminates pre-appointment written notification to Residential Support Coordinators and Employment Managers.
· Maintains a card file with all current health care cards; updates insurance cards as needed.
· Forwards copies of completed medical forms to CSAAC Residential Support Coordiantors.
· Maintains the filing and monitoring of individual medical records. Maintains an appointment log in each individual record; maintains current signed 90-day physician orders for all adult individuals.
· Maintains a master list of due dates for annual physicals, dental, podiatry, neurology and lab appointments for each individual. Keeps Coordinator, Residential Services Coordiantors and other necessary parties abreast of upcoming medical appointments.
· Works with accounting to review billings for medical services rendered.
REQUIRED TRAINING/PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
· Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies Training (BPST).
· Successfully complete annual recertification of the Behavioral Principles and Strategies
· .Maintains current certifications in First Aid and CPR.
· Obtains certification in the Maryland State Medication Technician Training Program.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
Employee must be able to effectively complete a non-adverse physical intervention with autistic individuals of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
