On August 17, 2023, Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children celebrated with not just one, but two exciting celebrations that marked the culmination of two large projects. The first project was a ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Wightman Vocational facility that officially opened for use. This facility will be used for the vocational program and administration offices. The building was fully renovated from top to bottom making it a high-end picturesque cutting-edge facility. The ribbon cutting was conducted by Maryland Senator, District 39, Nancy King, CSAAC Board of Director’s President, Nivea Cordova Berrios, CSAAC’s Founder, Jane Salzano, Director of Infrastructure Operations, Craig Pardini, and Paradise Energy, Brian Foltz. Eric Salzano had the idea of a new building for CSAAC’s future expansion and Craig Pardini researched and located the perfect building and managed the project from start to finish.
The second celebration was the “Flip the Switch” for CSAAC’s solar project at the Wightman Campus. Brian Foltz, Paradise Energy counted down, while Craig Pardini, Director of Infrastructure Operations played a drum roll to honor Maryland Senator, District 39, Nancy King while she “flipped the switch” to energize the Wightman Campus Solar System. CSAAC now has one of the largest private solar projects in Montgomery County. Some of the highlights of CSAAC’s Solar is: with energizing the new roof mount solar system at Wightman, the Brookeville Campus Roof Mount Systems, the Jane Salzano Center for Autism Solar Field, and the soon to come Jane Salzano Center for Autism Roof Mount System that will start late, 2023, CSAAC will save over 6-million dollars in 30 years, CSAAC is also helping the environment with offsetting 988 tons of CO2 annually and 27,000 trees saved annually! CSAAC will also have 22 electric vehicle chargers that will power the electric fleet. CSAAC is working hard to decrease its overhead costs through programs like solar energy. Craig Pardini, CSAAC’s Director of Infrastructure Operations developed the idea of moving CSAAC to solar energy and CSAAC’s Executive Director, Eric Salzano and the CSAAC Board of Directors fully supported the idea. Solar will help ensure CSAAC is ahead of the curve to lessen the dollars spent while maintaining sustainability. CSAAC would like to give special thanks to Maryland Senator, District 39, Nancy King for her support in assisting with a generous state grant to fund the solar projects and building renovations. CSAAC would like to thank Christopher Drayton, Director of Strategic Development for coordinating these two amazing events, and special thanks to everyone who came and celebrated!!
