On December 28th, 2023, Victor and De’Anne (Supported Employment Managers) accompanied several individuals and staff on a community outing to the Washington DC Air & Space Museum. This was the last of the many visits to notable places in the metro DC area by CSAAC’s vocational department in an effort to allow the individuals to experience different historical and interesting sites. The National Air & Space Museum was selected because it remains one of the world’s largest collections of historic aircraft and spacecraft which attracts millions of visitors.

The vocational managers arranged transportation and logistics for the trip, and they had a wonderful time. The flagship building on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., houses many of the icons of flight, including the original 1903 Wright Flyer, Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit of St. Louis, Chuck Yeager’s Bell X-1, John Glenn’s Friendship 7 spacecraft, and a lunar rock sample that visitors can touch. The exhibits included historical aviation artifacts, and the home to the Center for Earth and Planetary Studies, where research and technological innovations took place.

The enthusiastic individuals and their staff recognized the significance of these visits and thanked vocational leadership for the trip with the hope and anticipation that many more such trips will continue in the new year.
