Children and Youth: Learning, Growth, and Independence

CSAAC’s Youth Services provide a structured and nurturing residential program for children, adolescents, and young adults with autism. Through specialized residential homes, we offer individualized support plans developed in collaboration with families, support staff, and autism professionals. Each plan reflects the individual’s strengths, needs, and goals and is designed to promote skill development, community participation, and personal growth throughout every stage of life.

Each residence is supported by experienced professionals who oversee daily routines, ensure continuity of care, and coordinate services tailored to each individual’s needs. This approach fosters stability, personal growth, and community participation while giving families confidence that their loved ones are receiving high-quality support in a safe and welcoming environment.

A Personalized Plan for Every Child and Young Adult

Every child and young adult receives an individualized plan that reflects their abilities, preferences, and aspirations. These plans guide skill development, community involvement, and personal growth while promoting greater independence and quality of life.

Learning Essential Life Skills

Through hands-on experiences and individualized support, young people develop essential daily living skills, including personal care, organization, meal-time routines, and participation in household responsibilities. These opportunities help build confidence, independence, and readiness for the future.

Community Engagement and Enrichment

Through recreational activities, physical fitness, creative expression, and community experiences, children and young adults strengthen social skills, build meaningful relationships, and enjoy opportunities to learn, grow, and have fun.

Individualized Support Plans

Every child, adolescent, and young adult participating in CSAAC’s residential program has an individualized support plan that identifies goals and desired outcomes. These plans are built around each person’s strengths, interests, preferences, and needs, with an emphasis on developing skills that support active and meaningful participation in community life.

Plans are created through a collaborative process that includes the individual, family members, CSAAC staff, advocates, and autism professionals. This person-centered approach ensures that every plan is relevant, individualized, and focused on continuous growth, creating opportunities for greater independence, self-determination, and quality of life.

Adventures in the Community

Our youth continue to thrive through a rich blend of community engagement and joyful enrichment experiences. Whether they are celebrating July 4th with festive activities, enjoying a lively game of basketball, or sharing laughter during a bowling trip to Lucky Strike, each moment reflects growth, confidence, and connection. These outings create natural opportunities for practicing social skills, building friendships, and experiencing the world with support, structure, and pride.

Across the summer, the youth residential program has embraced meaningful adventures that highlight independence and community participation. Riding the train at Wheaton Regional Park, getting a fresh haircut in the community, and exploring local playgrounds all offer chances for choice-making, communication, and self-expression. These experiences not only strengthen daily living skills but also nurture joy, belonging, and the sense of being part of something bigger. These photos below showcase the smiles, movements, and memories that make these moments so special.
